I know I haven’t been reading that much non-fiction, though I did really buy a lot…. Oops. Let me take you back to the non-fiction reads of the past year, so you can maybe recommend me something non-fiction.
Best non-fiction read
I’ve read a few non-fiction books this year. Most of them were studyrelated, but I’ve read a few books for fun. The best non-fiction book I’ve read is DEFINITELY On Writing by mister Stephen King. Why? Because it’s not only a memoir, but also a book full of tips and tricks on writing. After reading it I felt so much like writing an entire novel. So, if you’re participating in NaNoWriMo, you should pick this up right now.
Most recommended non-fiction
The book I recommended the most was Is that a fish in your ear? by David Bellos. It’s about language and translation. Though I don’t really study translation, this subject is related to what I do study: linguistics, culture and communication. So I recommend this awesome book to everyone whom I know is interested in translation too. ;)
Non-fiction wishes
I have absolutely no idea. I’m not that keen on reading exclusively memoirs, because I like to learn something from what I read too. So in that case something like On Writing, which is both a memoir and sort of a toolkit, is perfect. Does anyone know something like that? Please let me know ;)
Non-Fiction November wishes
What do I hope to gain from participating in this event? I want to read a few of the non-fiction titles that are still on my shelves, but I’d also like to discover more non-fiction to put on my To-Read list (as if it isn’t too big already). So keep those recommendations coming!
